If you're wondering how to get rid of dandruff, look no further. In this guide, I’ll mention how to fight dandruff and tell you about some amazing oils and shampoos available in the market that can effectively treat dandruff.

How To Get Rid Of Dandruff?

From cleaning to nourishing, I will share everything you need to know about ways to treat dandruff. But first, you must know what causes dandruff.

Here are a few reasons that cause dandruff

  • Excessive secretions from your sebaceous glands on your scalp
  • Fungal infection on the surface of your skin
  • Not washing scalp & hair properly following which accumulation of flakes on the scalp
  • Over-shampooing causes overdrying of the scalp, as a result, dandruff
  • A yeast called Malassezia causes dandruff
  • Too much exposure to sunlight, dust, dirt, pollution and sunlight
  • Specific hair care products
  • Harsh water makes your scalp and hair overdry and causes dandruff
  • Frequent uses of hair styling products

Below are the ways to fight dandruff.

1. Keep your Hair Clean

Your hair is exposed to various pollutants every day and this leads to hair damage and dandruff. Harsh weather can also lead to dandruff. So, whenever you step outside, make sure you protect your hair from the sun and other dangerous pollutants. Wear a cap or tie a scarf to protect your hair from pollution and sun damage. Always dry your hair after exercising. If there’s too much sweat in your hair make sure to wash it or else the problem will get worse. Make sure to wash your hair with a cleansing shampoo.

2. Use Essential Oils:

Yes, you heard it right, essential oils can reduce dandruff. Using essential oils like argan oil, and tea tree oil can enhance the health of your scalp. Add 2-3 drops of essential oil in your regular coconut oil and massage it deep into your scalp. You can even add a couple of drops to your shampoo before you apply it to your hair. Make sure to use small amounts as the opposite might make it worse than good.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Skivia Tea Tree Essential Oil is extracted from the leaves of an old medicinal plant known as Melaleuca. It is an all-in-one traditional super oil that can be used for various purposes especially keeping hair healthy. Filled with many anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, this oil keeps fungal infections at bay and fights dandruff as well as various other hair problems.

3. Choose Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Plenty of anti-dandruff shampoos are available in the market, but not all work effectively. To get rid of dandruff effectively, you need to pick a shampoo that has active ingredients and that’s proven to work.

Macademia & Shea Butter Shampoo

This shampoo treats dry and damaged hair. Formulated with natural ingredients like macadamia oil, shea butter, tea tree oil, and others it controls and reduces dandruff. This shampoo helps in preventing hair problems by keeping them nourished and moisturised at all times and makes the hair smooth and shiny.

If you want to use a conditioner, make sure it’s formulated to complement your anti-dandruff shampoo. There are many ordinary conditioners that are available in the market and these can wash away the dandruff-fighting ingredients that are present in your shampoo and this leads to more dandruff. So make sure to use shampoo and conditioner from the same brand.

Macademia & Shea Butter Conditioner

This conditioner is enriched with macadamia oil, shea butter, almond, and tea tree oil controls dandruff, and makes your hair healthy and nourished. It makes your hair manageable by reducing frizz and tangles and enhancing smoothness.

3. Use Apple Cider Vinegar Wash

Many people believe that ACV help reduces dandruff. Apple cider vinegar removes oil and dirt, balances your hair’s pH, and makes your hair look shiny and feel smooth. And also decreases itchiness. Here’s how you can use ACV post-shampooing and conditioning.

  • Combine 1/2 cup ACV with 1 1/2 cups of cool water
  • Pour the water and ACV mix through your hair
  • Don’t rinse your hair again

If it causes stinging and irritation on your scalp stop using it.
